Maria Chavez was selected for her more than 24-years of Loyalty and Service to the NLPOA. Maria began her career with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, Texas. in 1993, as a clerk and promoted in 1994 to a Detention Service Officer. She became an NLPOA member almost immediately (1993) after joining the department. She has been a loyal and dedicated member for over 24 years. In 2010, we separated from the original Dallas Chapter and formed the NLPOA Dallas County Chapter. Maria remained a member and was elected as the Chapter’s first Detention Service Officer Representative. Maria currently the chapter’s historian. Officer Chavez many personal hours dedicated to the NLPOA. She has volunteered for committees, attending meetings and National conferences. She has always gone above and beyond. She has been an integral part for our chapters continued success. “Maria never says no.”
