Nomination Forms are due no later than May 30th of the calendar year of the awards ceremony at the Annual Conference.
Below are the (7) Awards honored by the National Latino Peace Officers Association (in order of precedence):
1. NLPOA OFFICER OF THE YEAR
Awarded to an NLPOA Member in good standing who is a Law Enforcement Officer. This is the highest honor of the organization. It recognizes a member who has gone above and beyond to strengthen the community they serve— through innovative practices, exemplary or heroic actions, and outstanding leadership that inspires others and elevates the profession.
2. NLPOA MERITORIOUS AWARD
Awarded to an NLPOA Member in good standing who is a Law Enforcement Officer. This award celebrates a member whose significant or extraordinary contributions to public safety, acts of heroism, or meritorious service rise far above the call of duty—demonstrating courage, dedication, and a commitment that makes our communities safer and stronger.
3. NLPOA LATINA OF THE YEAR
Awarded to a female member in good standing who identifies as Latina/Hispanic. This honor recognizes the woman who has made the most meaningful impact on the NLPOA community through innovative practices, exemplary or heroic actions, and exceptional leadership. (Nominees do not need to be sworn law enforcement officers.) It celebrates the powerful influence of Latina voices and leadership within our organization and beyond.
4. NLPOA PRESIDENTIAL AWARD
Selected solely by the NLPOA President. This special recognition is given to a member in good standing (Law Enforcement or Civilian) who has shown outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to the mission and goals of the NLPOA—embodying the values that move our organization forward.
5. NLPOA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Awarded to a Member in good standing (Law Enforcement or Civilian) with a minimum of 20 consecutive years of unbroken membership. The recipient must have served honorably on a local, state, or national NLPOA board and demonstrated excellent leadership and deep commitment to the organization’s mission and goals. This award honors a lifetime of dedication, service, and lasting impact on the NLPOA family.
6. NLPOA COMMUNITY SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARD
Awarded to an NLPOA Member in good standing (Law Enforcement or Civilian). This award recognizes the members who have made the greatest contributions to their local NLPOA community and beyond—through selfless charity, acts of kindness, innovative practices, and leadership that truly improve lives. It celebrates those who build stronger community relationships and create meaningful opportunities for engagement in the jurisdictions they serve.
7. NLPOA ANNUAL CONFERENCE CONTRIBUTION AWARD
Awarded to an NLPOA Member in good standing (Law Enforcement or Civilian). This recognition honors the members whose significant participation in the planning and execution of the NLPOA Annual Conference & Convention proved vital to the event’s success, helping create an inspiring, seamless, and memorable experience for all who attended.
