We buried Georgie Boy Last week he was 99 years of age and was one of two World War II Veterans left in American Legion Sierra Post 785. I would go and visit him at his elderly assistance House and he would ask me “Vinnie, do you think I will make it to 100?” I would answer, sure, your sister died at 107 so you should make 100 easy. As in most things it seldom goes as we plan, Georgie Boy took ill went to the hospital, we had a nice coffee and pan dulce with him and sang “America the Beautiful” his favorite song.

Whenever we got together, no matter where we were, he would break into America the Beautiful and we would all join in. His funeral was well attended, and the many veterans from throughout California came to pay their respect. He was escorted to the cemetery by the Veteran’s Motorcycle Club. It was a beautiful day and Georgie led a great life which was a positive example to everyone. God Bless You Georgie Boy, Vicente…
