The National Latino Peace Officers Association honors NLPOA Lifetime Member Cindy M. Rodriguez, Lt. Ret., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept., NV. Cindy M. Rodriguez has been a member since 1994. Cindy was elected the NLPOA Clark County Chapter, NV, President in 1996, 2011, and 2012. In 2014, Cindy was selected as the NLPOA National Latina of the Year. Cindy was elected as the first female National NLPOA President in 2016, and served until the end of 2021.
The National Latino Peace Officers Association honors NLPOA Lifetime Member Barbara Ponze, Retired Sheriff’s Deputy, Santa Clara County Sheriffs, CA. Barbara was sworn in as a sheriff’s deputy in 1966. Barbara was the first female officer to join the National Latino Peace Officers Association in 1974. Barbara was the first female elected as Chapter President of the NLPOA Santa Clara Chapter, CA, in 1986.
The National Latino Peace Officers Association honors NLPOA Lifetime Member Rosamaria Hernandez, San Jose, California. In 1972, Rosamaria was at one of the first meetings, held at the Mexican American Community Service Agency (MACSA).
Rosamaria Hernandez was asked to join the LPOA. Her experiences in the administrative field would be important in helping organize the LPOA and its growth. Rosamaria Hernandez has served in numerous Board capacities, served as the National NLPOA Editor, and is a 50-year NLPOA Member.
